Blue Turtle in the Community: Growing Together, Giving Back

At Blue Turtle, we’re incredibly proud to be part of this wonderful community. Community for us isn’t just having an office in Llandudno, it’s about being actively involved, supporting local causes, providing well paid and meaningful jobs for local people and helping to make our local area a better place for everyone.

Our people

Our business is nothing without our wonderful staff. This year we were proud to become an accredited living wage employer. We have always been committed to paying well above both the UK minimum wage and the Real Living Wage, regardless of an employee’s age. With this accreditation, we’re celebrating our commitment to being a responsible employer that puts our people first.

We know that paying well isn’t all that people need. We have supported our staff to improve their skills and knowledge and progress within the organisation. Whether it is through formal training like NEA’s Energy Awareness accreditation, practical courses to upskill our installation team or meeting our obligations as a business – this year our team have logged over 340 hours of training.

We encourage staff to take advantage of networking and informal learning opportunities such as the National Installer Show, FSB events and the Google North Wales Digital Garage.  When our people have the most up to date knowledge, they can be innovative and excel in what they do!

This year also saw us appoint our first two Blue Turtle Well Being Champions who help to support staff access support they may need to keep them well in work. They have organised different sessions raising awareness of issues such as Mindfullness, Breast Cancer and Anti-Bullying.

Supporting Local Causes & Creating Impact

Supporting local causes is something that our staff care deeply about. We have organised and taken part in a number of different fundraisers to support St Davids Hospice including a staff sports day and sponsoring their annual moonlight walk. In total our staff have raised over £1000 for local causes this year..

We have actively supported the local foodbank Ty Hapus as a designated drop off point for food donations, collecting over 200 easter eggs for local children and over 100 Christmas presents for teenagers who may have otherwise gone without.

Hands-On Help in the Community

But our involvement doesn’t stop at fundraising. Members of the Blue Turtle team have given over 40 hours of their time to support Friends of Mostyn Street (FOMs) taking part in community litter-picking and town clean-up efforts. Keeping our environment beautiful is something we’re passionate about, and our team is always eager to jump in and lend a hand.

Staff have volunteered to take part in a football tournament for St Kentigerns Hospice and gave our local community resource centre a facelift and a fresh coat of paint.

Inspiring Young Minds

One of our favourite initiatives is working with local schools. We love getting young people involved in creative projects that help improve their school environment and surrounding areas. Our ECO challenge is supporting local primary schools with resources to help bring some of these ideas to life. Our team of judges will be announcing the winners in the early part of 2026 and we can’t wait to share more about the winners.

Introducing the Blue Turtle Hub

With all of this in mind, we’re excited to announce something new. Blue Turtle Hub will be officially opening its doors on Monday 12 January 2026. Our hub on Madoc Street in Llandudno will be a space for people to come together and feel supported while supporting each other.

Rooted in our values of trust, support, and giving back, we want Blue Turtle Hub to provide the activities and support that the community wants and needs. To help us do that we are asking as many people as possible to tell us what they would like to see by completing our short survey.

The offer at the hub will develop over the coming months but our focus in the early part of 2026 will be to provide a warm space for people to come together, have a chat over a panad and find some friendly faces.

Whether you want someone to chat with, a hot drink or just to be a bit nosey and see what we are up to, we look forward to welcoming you all to the hub in the new year.
