The Minister for Energy Consumers, Miatta Fahnbulleh, yesterday (23 January) issued a statement announcing immediate government action following the discovery of widespread poor-quality solid wall insulation installed under inherited ECO4 and GBIS schemes.
The Minister confirmed that 39 businesses have been suspended from installing new solid wall insulation with immediate effect. The government is requiring the installers responsible for substandard work to rectify their mistakes, ensuring that affected households will not bear any additional costs. Minister Fahnbulleh emphasised that these issues are a result of systemic failures over many years, and she reaffirmed the government’s commitment to introducing reforms under the Warm Homes Plan to improve quality and better protect consumers.
